Designing Custom Boxes for
Non-Boxed Items:
The objective of this assignment is to develop your skills in creating custom packaging solutions for items that do not come in traditional box packaging. By the end of this assignment, you should be able to demonstrate your ability to design functional, creative, and visually appealing boxes that enhance the packaging and presentation of non-boxed items.
Task Description:
Item Selection: Choose two non-boxed items from your daily surroundings. The size of the item is between 15cm to 20cm. These items should not come in traditional box packaging but should be relatively small in size (e.g., a mug, a book, a pair of sunglasses, a candle, etc.).
Justification: Provide a brief justification for your selection of these items, explaining why custom box packaging would enhance their presentation and functionality.
Box Design
Box Structure: Create detailed diagrams or sketches of the box structure for each item, including dimensions, flap designs, and closure mechanisms. Ensure that the proposed box is functional and secure.
Prototype:
Create physical prototypes of the custom boxes for both selected items. You can use cardboard or other suitable materials to bring your designs to life.

Process
so the 2 item that i choose is my creatine suplemen and tumbler
for the first item i design the box more athletic
First Design
When i looking the material i am looking for thick material to hold my item so i buy rigid material for applying my die line to the paper
After i cut the die line i proceed to fold it but there is a issue the material is too thick so when i want to fold it it cracked
But i forced to fold it so i cut the first layer of the paper to make it easier to fold and this is what its look like
During class i asked for feedback Mr. Shamsul said cant use this material its too thick and need to change to artbox paper after receiving feedback i bought artbox paper too make the box
This is what it look like when i try the artbox paper for the material its not strong enough to hold the item so i asked Mr. Shamsul for feedback and he said its too thin and for the glue i cant use that type of glue to stick the paper its look ugly so the finishing its not good so i went to the stationary after looking all over the store i decide to use corrugated fiberboard
And this is the third attempt i make the hexagon box so this time its work the material can hold the items and also it can close perfectly for the close system i use magnet so the product looks premium
Second Design
First material i use the artbox paper but i accidently delete the photo of the product but i already consult with Mr. Shamsul he said it too thin so this is the final box the material i use is the same as the first box
but i got an issue that i dont measure the thickness of the material so it cant close properly
so i asked Mr. Shamsul can i change my dieline he agree but he mentioned the deadline is week 11. after the feedback i redesign my box i try alot of design for the die line so finally this is my final design that i choose
Two pieces box (lid and bottom) is the final design that i choose its simple and suit with the item
FINAL
FEEDBACK
- Dont use rigid box for folding because it can crack if you try to fold
-make a wider glue flap
-the material artbox to thin it not strong enough to handle the item
-for the second design make the tray so the bottle can stay in the place not wobbling
-the magnet idea its good
-the first design its nice
