Task1 Proposal Development

Week1

As the first week comes, I had food poisoning and was unable to attend classes which resulted in my first absence.

Week 2

I arrived at the wrong class as I wasn't informed on the class change during last week since I was absent. The class was moved to D2.02 where I made a group and was told to find a topic project. After lots of confusion, we decided on a skincare product. Then we started researching on which skincare line we could rebrand and finally decided to follow through with VIVA Cosmetics. With new and upcoming skincare on the market, we focused on old ones as it was easier to rebrand its old packaging, logo, design, etc. After finalizing our topic, we head on to researching to start our PPT as we had to present next week.

Color palette & Visual reference

Week 3

After our presentation, the lecturer informed us on how we missed out on the detailed explanation and lack of visualization and deliveries. Overall, it was a lacking presentation with many gaps to fill in and the need to provide the actual real product for the lecturers to compare and give feedbacks on.

Task2 Design Proposition

Following the feedbacks from the past week, we revised the PPT to a more visualize and detailed deliveries. Next step is sketching the logo and product packaging
here are the sketches for logo

logo

As the figure above show, the lecturers commented in their disapprovement since it wasn't minimalistic as our initial approach stated. Due to our rebranding, we had to follow through with our goals and remake several sketches, more detailed and more diverse.

and this is the logo that we choose because after multiple opinions and reviews, below is the final design chosen:

From all the sketches above, we were questioned on why we implemented the color red, which was the result after we finalized the design. However the lecturers disagree with the flower as it doesn't resemble a sunflower from the original brand.

After several rejections, I started sketching several logo choices and below are some of it

From the above images, we finally agreed on choosing 1 of it as seen below:

packaging

i sketch the design for voucher, coupon and travel kit and Ms. Anis asked me why the travel kit have arch and the other don't have the arch and it was hard to find the reason because when i sketch it suddenly the idea pops up in my head

this is our redesign packaging based on the feedback

and this is the product packaging before we change the logo. When we showcased the packaging, we received feedback on the logo placement being inconsistent.

With several changes made, we fixed the logo placement, redesigned the packaging, and replaced to a new logo to better suit a sunflower.

Display Rack, Manual, and Voucher

Task3 Concept Presentation

We finally reached the final presentation in class and below is the PPT

As we end our presentation, Ms. Vitiyaa commented on how we shouldn't have used the logo on our PPT as the strokes were too thick, but we should change to the ones below as it matches the product packaging and has more flexibility to be a mahkota penari jaipong (jaipong dancer's crown).

After discussing, the whole group decided on finalizing the logo on the left shown above. Hence I digitized the sketch before proceeding.

Straight after digitizing the final logo, I head on to applying the new logo to all the product packaging, manual, and voucher.

Feedback

Week 1:
During the first week, I was unable to attend due to food poisoning.

Week 2 :
My group and I were unclear on which topics to choose, hence we were given some examples of other groups and insights by Ms. Anis regarding our rebranding decision, on how to find the brand’s strengths and weaknesses, and deepen our research before proceeding.

Week 3 :
Week 3 was our very first presentation in which we received several feedbacks on needing to visualize more to give a vision to the audience. Aside from visualization, we were advised to add more deliveries to further add to our rebranding process as 2 wasn’t enough

Week 4:
This was the week where we sketched and continuously sketched for the new logo as well as the new packaging.

Week 5 :
During consultation, Ms. Vitiyaa and Ms. Anis questioned us on the PPT which mostly we had a hard time answering due to a lack of research. Hence our project needed to be more convincing by expanding our research

Week 6:
This was a hectic week starting from the logo which wasn’t approved as it didn’t align with our rebranding of a minimalistic approach. Another issue was that our logo didn’t resemble a sunflower, with thick outer lines and a misplacement on its packaging.

Week 7:
As the final presentation, the only feedback we received was thinning the strokes on our logo and finalizing our digital logo with a different more suitable one. We decided on a half sunflower which may look like a crown as it appears like a mahkota penari jaipong (jaipong dancer’s crown).

REFLECTION

These past 7 weeks has been hectic personally and for the groupmates as well. The first few weeks comes with a lot of confusions and brand research After multiple discussions, rejections, consultations, and presentations, we finally reached the end. Attending these classes and following through this project has shown me a new insight on completing the project neatly, how to communicate with teammates, how to manage my time management, how to research bran designs and rebrand properly. It all comes with great exhaustion but great relieve as we close this VIVA Cosmetic project of ours.

To put into details, I had a great leader who led the team well with reliable guidance and friend to work with. Another teammate has contributed and worked seamlessly with us to finish this project. The three of us a group managed to complete a rivorous task within 7 weeks of rejections, stressful discussions, and hard decisions.
